Trent and Mersey Canal

General description

Being the key navigable link between the rivers Trent and Mersey, and many other canals which join this watercourse, the T&M is susceptible to colouring up from extensive boat traffic, particularly on warm days. Despite this, the fishing is still second to none for the pole angler, with nice nets of gudgeon and other small fish taken throughout the year. This is by no means a small fish water however, as the canal is home to many large carp that are often caught on the Wides at Billinge.

The long and even sections on this water make it ideally suited to match angling, and bookings can be made through the T&M match secretary, Peter Moore. Fishing is on the towpath side from Bridge 168 (Middlewich town centre) to Bridge 214 (Preston Brook Tunnel)

Please note that like Budworth this water is jointly owned with Warrington AA.
